I don’t like how Helen is leaving her in the dark. She just drops all these bombs on Clare and expecting her to just accept it. “Oh, honey, we’re divorcing. Oh, honey, I’m dating again — I know the divorce papers haven’t been finalized, but oh well. Oh, honey, I’m getting married. What? You’re with Jake? Sorry, lol, I’m the adult, so you to have to break up.”
It’s no wonder that Clare’s falling through the cracks. Her mom is acting like a 13-year-old who just got her first boyfriend, and if the description is anything to go by, her dad’s pretty much out of her life. Everything she’s known up until now is a lie.
I know, right? I mean. how didn’t she catch on that Clare was upset? I really hope that Helen smartens up too. She’s supposed to be Clare’s mother and yet she’s not acting like one.
“I’M A GROWING BOY. I NEED NO MANNERS. OMNOMNOM.”
Jake’s love for chicken makes me chuckle. And the boy needs to learn some table manners. But yeah, I agree… dinner is gonna be super awkward.
